ABOUT THE ANGRY ACADEMIC
Why so angry about science, research & stuff?
The Angry Academic was founded on a whim by 47 year old woman living in rural Victoria. She has three degrees in evidence-based fields and worked with two universities (but just one had any prestige). After being made redundant in late 2018, and going back to uni full time in 2019, she tinkered with this while unemployed during the COVID lockdown.
2020 has regrettably illustrated a growing wave of anti-science, anti-research, along with a general resistance to facts and expertise. Cries of 'do your own research!' from folks whose research skills are limited to googling a website that agrees with whatever piffle they want to claim is true. This said, experts could often do a lot more to make their knowledge accessible to the general public.
The Angry Academic is particularly angry that so many smart and accomplished women still feel uncomfortable about saying they are smart and accomplished and are regularly talked over and/or down to by over-confident dullards. Education is a undoubtedly a privilege, but also a lot of hard work. And now RBG's gone as well.
The Angry Academic plans to grow garlic if nothing else pans out.
